Parent involvement is vital to children’s success in school. Laugh N’ Discover strives to involve parents in as many ways as possible. Parents who are involved in their child's education create a connection between the home and school. Every Laugh N’ Discover family has an obligation to perform 30 hours of service to the school each year or pay a fee of $100 quarterly. (Families receiving discounts must perform 45 hours.) Parents must complete at least 10 hours a quarter to avoid penalty.
Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom; other opportunities to get involved include planning events, preparing projects, and participating in school events. Parent volunteering can be as simple as reading a book to kids in the classroom, or as in-depth as helping plan our largest annual fundraiser.
**Please note: All classroom volunteers must submit and pass a background check.**
CONFERENCES & FEEDBACK
Parent-teacher conferences are held twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. Laugh N’ Discover also invites parents to provide valuable feedback about the success and accessibility of the program. During the conference, the teacher will discuss your child’s strengths and challenges.
Laugh N’ Discover has other ways for parents to be involved and explore learning including:
classroom cultural celebrations
family fun nights ( math and literacy)
